APOPKA CAN DANCE EXHIBITION
2010 Official Rules
1. TO ENTER: NO PURCHASE NECESSARY; void where prohibited. The "Apopka Can Dance Exhibition 2010 (the "Exhibition") will be held from Friday, March 12 through March 14, 2010, at the Apopka Fair, located at Kit Land Nelson Park on Park Ave. in Apopka, Florida. In order to participate, all participants must: 1. send an e-mail, indicating their name and age with the subject heading “Participant,” to: riden4fun@ymail.com AND 2. completely fill out, sign, and submit during registration on Friday, March 12, 2010: a) the “Apopka Can Dance Exhibition Official 2010 Application and Agreement” form and b) the “Apopka Can Dance Exhibition 2010 Participant Waiver and Release” form. In addition to all the above, every participant under the age of 18 must have their parent or legal guardian fill out and sign the “Parent’s/Guardian’s Consent” section of the “Apopka Can Dance Exhibition Official 2010 Application and Agreement” form and the “Apopka Can Dance Exhibition 2010 Parent or Guardian Release and Waiver” section of the “Apopka Can Dance Exhibition 2010 Participant Waiver and Release” form. All participants are required to have completed and submitted all forms above prior to their performance.
2. PARTICIPANT Structure:
On Friday, March 12, 2010 – High School age and above. All participants must be present at the Apopka Fair for registration at 5:00 pm. The Exhibition will begin at 6:00 pm. No entrant is guaranteed the opportunity to perform. Entrants will be seen in the order in which they registered. Each entrant must register in order to perform. The number of entrants for the Apopka Can Dance Exhibition 2010 is limited to the number of entrants time permits. No entrant will be seen after 9:00 pm. Each entrant will have approximately up to 3 minutes to perform a dance of their choice. Any member of the panel has the right to end the performance at any point in the dance. All participants must provide background music on CD prior to performance.
Saturday, March 13, 2010, Elementary School age and younger. All participants must be present at the Apopka Fair for registration at 10:00 a.m. The Exhibition will begin at 11:00 a.m. No participant is guaranteed the opportunity to perform. Participants will be seen in the order in which they registered. Each participant will have approximately up to 3 minutes to perform a dance of their choice. The younger children and younger age groups will perform first. All participants must provide background music on CD prior to performance
Middle School age participants will perform after the last of the younger children or younger age groups. Each participant will have approximately up to 3 minutes to perform a dance of their choice. The Exhibition will continue throughout the day, as time permits, in order in which they registered. No participant is guaranteed the opportunity to perform. All participants must provide background music on CD prior to performance.
High School age participants and groups will perform during evening hours.
On Sunday, March 14, 2010, Any elementary age and younger participants will again begin at 11:00 a.m. All participants must provide background music on CD prior to performance.
3. performace guidelines/criteria:
The Exhibition is open to amateur dancers only. The decision as to whether or not a participant is/was a professional dancer will be within the sole and absolute discretion of the Apopka Can Dance Exhibition Panel (Exhibition Panel).
Chosen dance music must contain appropriate lyrics – no lewd or inappropriate language; any performance containing inappropriate language and/or dance movement will result in immediate dismissal from the exhibition.
4. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
All participants and groups will receive a “participation award” of no monetary value.
5. RULE INTERPRETAION:
These rules are subject to the interpretation of the Exhibition Panel. Any aspect of these rules can be changed at the discretion of the Exhibition Panel, and such changes will become effective upon on-air or other appropriate announcement.
6. INABILITY TO PERFORM:
The Exhibition Panel disclaims any responsibility for a participant's inability to attend the event. The Exhibition Panel reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule the Exhibition at anytime, for any reason, which right shall be exercisable in Exhibition Panel's sole discretion. In case of dispute, the decision of the Exhibition Panel management shall be final.
7. DISQUALIFICATION
The Exhibition Panel reserves the right to dismiss and/or exclude, in our sole discretion, any individual from the exhibition for any reason, including without limitation, violation of any portion of these rules, any performance that the exhibition panel deems inappropriate, or tampering with the entry process or the participation process. The Exhibition Panel also reserves the right to change the rules and procedures at any time.
8. ADDITIONAL PROHIBITIONS:
8a. NO WEAPONS, ALCOHOL OR NON-PRESCRIPTION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES WILL BE PERMITTED AT ANY AUDITION OR DURING THE COMPETITION.
8b. PARTICIPANTS MUST REFRAIN FROM WEARING ANY CLOTHING ITEMS BEARING DESIGNER OR SPORTS LOGOS OR BEARING THE NAME OR LIKENESS OF A CELEBRITY, LIVING OR DEAD TO ANY OF THE PERFORMANCES.
9. PARTICIPANT NON-COMPLIANCE
Failure to comply with the exhibition rules may result in a participant’s dismissal. Failure to sign the Participation/Consent Agreement and Waiver and Release will automatically disqualify the participant with no further notification.
10. JUDGING:
There will be NO judging. This is an “exhibition only” event for individuals and groups to participate and show their respective dance performances.
